The Landscape Painting in Porcelain Exhibition of Works by Mr. Zhao Zhongliang Jointly organized by the Chi Lin Nunnery and the Nan Lian Garden Xiang Hai Xuan Multi-purpose Hall, Nan Lian Garden Chinese ceramic and porcelain painting is a valuable art form in the long history of Chinese culture and tradition. When Chinese paintings are drawn not on thin and light-weight silk or fabric with brush and ink, but on the pure and white surface of ceramic and porcelain wares, the beauty of art and the beauty of craft come together to enhance their respective appeal. Mr. Zhao Zhongliang is a young ceramic artist with a passion for calligraphy, painting and ceramic art. Mr. Zhao possesses a sound and solid foundation in Chinese painting. He has studied ceramic landscape painting under Mr. Lu Ru, an eminent master of Chinese ceramic painting. He also studied under Mr. Cheung Pak-yue, a renowned artist in Hong Kong with impressive results. Mr. Zhao’s works are well constructed, gracefully designed and subtly represented. His ability to use lucid and lively colours to depict well-structured pictorial compositions is charismatic. Mr. Zhao’s choice of glaze is extensive, including the subdued blue and white, underglaze red, famille rose and the more vivid polychrome and new colour decoration. His works are replete with the vitality and spirit of Chinese painting and calligraphy as well as the appeal and charm of ceramic decoration. Chi Lin Nunnery has the honour of presenting to the general public an exhibition of the ceramic painting works of Mr. Zhao Zhongliang at Xian Hai Xuan, Nan Lian Garden. It is hoped that the exhibition will bring you peace of mind and inspire you to appreciate and preserve the Chinese cultural heritage. | 1 May to 28 September 2012 | | | | Xiang Hai Xuan Multi-purpose Hall, Nan Lian Garden, 60 Fung Tak Road, Diamond Hill, Kowloon.
